Chocolate Shakeology Pie

Shakeology Pie?

Yup, it’s not just for smoothies anymore!

Shakeology is an amazing nutrition shake all by itself, but it can also be used for making healthy treats! I made this Chocolate Shakeology Pie for my family recently, and my kids loved it (although, when I asked them if they could taste the Shakeology that was in it, they made a face that said, “WHAT?!”). Don’t get me wrong, they drink Shakeology every morning, but I guess they never thought a health drink could be one of the ingredients in a dessert – much less a chocolate pie.

Now imagine their reaction when they learned I also made it with TOFU (maybe I shouldn’t have divulged that part…)!

Here’s how to make the delicious Shakeology pie, and it is highly likely that your kids won’t know the difference!

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops chocolate Shakeology (280 cals)
  • 1 container tofu, silken or firm (approx. 12 oz.) (200 cals)
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (630 cals)
  • 2 Tbsp. skim milk (11 cals)
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (health food stores have whole grain, graham cracker-like pie crusts that are great for this!)

Total calories for the pie = 1,121 (That’s right! The WHOLE PIE!); If sliced into 8 pieces, that equals 140 calories per slice. I cut up the pie into 16ths, so we indulged for 70 CALORIES PER SLICE, with NO ADDED SUGAR (disclaimer: I ate 2 pieces anyway, haha)!

Compare that to the Marie Calendar’s “I Love Chocolate Cream Pie” (350 calories per slice, AND 24 grams of sugar), or the Denny’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie (653 calories/45 grams of sugar per slice)*! No THANKS!

*Calorie stats taken from FOODFACTS.com (FoodFacts rated the Denny’s pie with a “Foodfacts health score” of 12 out of 100, & gave Shakeology a score of 97!)

Shakeology Pie Preparation:

Place peanut butter, tofu, chocolate Shakeology, and milk in blender; blend until smooth and creamy, adding a bit more milk if necessary. Pour into pie crust and refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour. Then serve it up!

*Bananas can be added, with a decrease in peanut butter, to taste. Just experiment!

Hint: Top the pie with a little whipped cream and garnish with cocoa powder to make it look extra-indulgent, but use sparingly since the added ingredients will increase the sugar and calorie count.

There are seven different flavors, but I’ve only tried the pie with chocolate. :) Enjoy!
