The Power of Prayer: Faith, Hope, and Strength

phil 4 6By Prayer and Petition

I’ve seen prayer mend marriages, heal sickness (mine!), and soften the hardest of hearts. While I don’t claim to have a secret 1-800 number to God’s private line, what I do know is I’ve seen some incredible answers to prayer in my life, and the more I pray, the more I feel it and see it.

Prayer doesn’t have to be formal and it certainly doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s essentially just “talking story” with God, with a humble heart. I love that we have the opportunity to hang out with God and that He’s available to us 24/7!

I might pray before making a big decision, to overcome obstacles, temptation, or illness, for forgiveness, or even to simply pray a blessing over someone (even for the lady who stole my parking spot!).

In short, I pray all the time, and about pretty much everything!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. ~Romans 12:12

His plans vs. ours

It is a definite act of faith that prayer will be heard and answered (John 5:30, Hebrews 11:1). The cool thing is that the more we pray, the more we get answers, which makes our faith stronger still.

Of course, sometimes the answer we hope for isn’t in God’s plan, because in actuality maybe what we are praying for is what is in OUR plan, not His. Maybe, though, His plan for us is something much MORE than we could have ever dreamed of (and we just don’t know it yet). In those cases, we can ask for the discernment to know the difference, and for peace in the midst of the waiting.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Praying it forward

I always feel comforted when someone tells me they have prayed for me, from ‘small life stuff’ like giving a presentation at work, or for ‘big life stuff’ like being in the hospital. I would love to be a blessing to you in that way, as well. You don’t even have to be a believer. I’ll pray for you anyway!

“If your problem is too big for you, it’s just the right size for God.” – Steven Furtick

Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them”. We can experience the powerful impact of prayer and grow closer in our relationship with God by being prayer warriors for each other. Whether it be our health, our family, friendships or work or school, know that no matter how heavy your burden, God is listening and is so very willing to walk beside you every step of the way.

If you need prayer today, please scroll down to the bottom of this page and leave your prayer request in the comments. If you’d like to post a praise report here we can celebrate those blessings together, too!
